The Diploma of Makeup is designed to prepare students to work as a professional makeup artist and hair stylist for fashion, bridal, retail and special effects. Students will develop a portfolio of work which will include day, evening, bridal and fashion makeup as well as casualty effects, character creation, bald caps and hair application.

During the year students will have four professional photoshoots, of which they will receive prints to include in their portfolio.

Students will have the opportunity to do make-up for fashion parades and events during the year, working with our fashion design students and also perform make-up for guest clients of all ages throughout the year.

Students will have the option to sit the ITEC international examination for the Diploma of Fashion, Theatre and Media Makeup. For more information on ITEC visit http://www.itecworld.co.uk

Qualification and Units of Competency

On successful completion of the course, students will be awarded the 'CUF50407: Diploma of Specialist Makeup Services’, which is nationally recognised as part of the Australian Qualifications Framework. Students will also have the option of sitting the ITEC international examination for the ITEC Diploma of Fashion, Theatre and Media Make-up (please note that there is an examination fee to sit the ITEC exam).

Course Duration and Term Dates

The course runs over 38 weeks including 2 weeks of holidays. Student's attend 3 days per week from 9am - 4.30pm (with a half hour lunch break).

Domestic Students Only

It is advised that applicants have successfully completed a minimum of Year 10 Maths and English.

To apply students must follow the steps listed below:

  1. Fill out an application form and arrange an interview time.
  2. Attend a student interview and complete the short interview test. (For applicants outside the South East Queensland region who cannot attend an interview, please phone us for telephone interview).
  3. Successful applicants will receive an acceptance letter along with enrolment forms and student handbook in the mail.
  4. To enrol – return signed enrolment form with course deposit.

The course fees are for a position in the course and are payable whether the student completes the course or not. Upon enrolling in the course, the student is liable to the college for the course fees in full.

To secure a position in the course, students must pay a minimum non-refundable course deposit of 10% of the discounted upfront course cost.

DISCOUNTED UPFRONT PAYMENT: $9990 (Domestic Students Only)

• $999 non-refundable deposit required to enrol.
• $8991 balance due on course commencement.

PAYMENT PLAN: $10989 (Domestic Students Only)

• $999 non-refundable deposit required to enrol.
• $9990 balance paid in weekly installments, direct debited from your selected bank account over the duration of your study.

Additional Costs/Required Equipment:

  • Printing & photocoping by student.
  • 1 packet of colouring pencils
  • 1 packet of gouache paints (packet of 12)
  • Basic stationary – e.g. display folder’s, pens, pencil & rubber, highlighters.
  • USB Thumb drive – 2GB minimum recommended
  • A digital camera is highly recommended (not compulsory)
  • Student’s may also choose to purchase clothing, props and additional products for use in their photoshoots – as selected and desired by the student.
  • Student ID Card: $25
  • ITEC examination fee (optional)
  • Students will be required to pay for their graduation dinner for themselves and any guests. Students will be advised on the price in advance – allow $80 per person.
